(SBU) In response to Pol Chief delivery of reftel demarche October
6, MFA Director of International Organizations Yacub al-Hosani noted
that the UAE may not participate in the vote. He added that, as a
matter of principle, some in the UAE favored the concept of
resolution of international disputes through the ICJ, given the
UAE's islands dispute with Iran that it wants submitted to ICJ. He
noted the current level of international recognition of Kosovo and
took note of the U.S. encouragement for others to vote against the
resolution.
