An Armenian holiday and the appointment of a new defense
minister hindered post's ability thus far to discuss reftel
issues with an appropriate contact in the Ministry of
Defense. We relayed reftel message to Armen Yedigarian, head
of the MFA's Department of Arms Control and National
Security. Armenia has maintained a steady troop contribution
to efforts in Iraq for the past two years, and government
officials regularly indicate to us that they intend to
continue on that path. We anticipate no changes to the
Armenian troop contributions in Iraq.
