MAKE A PUBLIC STATEMENT
REF: A) STATE 27549 B) 06 YEREVAN 1764
Classified By: CDA A.F. Godfrey for reasons 1.4 (b,d).
(S) CDA delivered ref A points to Deputy Foreign Minister
Arman Kirakossian on March 7. Kirakossian said the GOAM has
expressed, and would continue to express, its concern to the
Iranian Government about its nuclear enrichment program. "We
tell them we don't need a nuclear neighbor and they tell us
the program is only for peaceful purposes," Kirakossian said.
We underscored the evidence that Iran's program is not for
peaceful purposes and urged the GOAM to voice its concern
more publicly. The CDA reminded Kirakossian that the GOAM
had committed to support UNSCR 1737 and needed to publicly
join the international community in calling for Iran's full
compliance with the resolution (ref B).
