1. (C) We delivered reftel points to Giedre Gelezeviciene of
the MFA's European Union Enlargement Division. Gelezeviciene
said that Lithuanian FM Petras Vaitiekunas had said that one
country could not hold the process hostage as Kosovo moves
towards independence. She said that the GOL would follow the
lead of the United States and Great Britain if the 120 days
of intensive engagement do not bear fruit.
2. (C) Gelezeviciene said that the MFA was already making
plans for how to present the issue to the parliament if there
is a need to recognize Kosovo's independence without a UNSCR.
She said the MFA is preparing for all scenarios.
