1. The Embassy received a Diplomatic Note dated May 10, 2007
with the following text:

COMPLIMENTARY OPENING

with reference to the Embassy's note No. 117/06 dated 23
October 2006 and in accordance with the Agreement between the
Government of the Republic of Lithuania and the Government of
the United States of America on the Protection and
Preservation of Certain Cultural Properties signed at Vilnius
on 15 October 2002, has the honour to inform that the three
members appointed to the Joint Cultural Heritage Commission
for the Republic of Lithuania are Mr. Zigmantas Kiaupa,
Member of the Lithuanian Commission for Heritage Protection;
Mr. Paulius Koverovas, State Secretary of the Ministry of
Justice of the Republic of Lithuania; and Ms. Irena
Vaisvilaite, Head of the Culture, Science and Education Group
of the Office of the President of the Republic of Lithuania.
The Lithuanian delegation proposes to hold the first meeting
of the Joint Commission at the earliest time in Vilnius,
Lithuania.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania
kindly requests the assistance of the Embassy of the United
States of America to convey to the competent authorities of
the United States of America the attached inventory list of
the significant to Lithuania cultural heritage items situated
in the United States of America. This list includes the
cemeteries, parish buildings and places pertinent to the
members of the Lithuanian community, which since the 18th
century at one or another period of time were important to
the Lithuanian State.

COMPLIMENTARY CLOSING


2. With the diplomatic note, we received a list of cultural
heritage sites in the United States that the GOL wishes to
protect and discuss within the framework of the agreement.
We will forward copies of the note and the list to EUR/NB and
the Commission for the Protection of America's Heritage
Abroad.
