SUBJECT: LITHUANIA SUPPORTS SANCTIONS ON IRAN

The Ambassador delivered reftel points to MFA Under Secretary
Zygimantas Pavilionis on March 26. We followed up with
Martynas Lukosevicius, Attache in the MFA's Arms Control,
Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Division, who told us that
the GOL is "very happy" that sanctions have been
strengthened. He expressed hope that stronger sanctions,
coupled with firm negotiations, would help convince Iran to
suspend its proliferation and enrichment programs. He added
that he would update the GOL's website that provides
guidelines for export-related companies with the information
in the resolution's annexes.
