1. Robert Boehm, Chief of Staff and Special Advisor on Aviation to
Ministry of Transportation State Secretary Christa Kranzl, told the
Embassy on August 31 that Kranzl would be interested in a bilateral
meeting with Secretary of Transportation Mary Peters at the ICAO
Assembly.


2. Below is preliminary information on the Austrian delegation to
the ICAO Assembly:

-- Christa Kranzl, State Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Head
of Austrian delegation;

-- Robert Boehm, Kranzl's Chief of Staff and Special Advisor on
Aviation;

-- Hermann Priller, Special Advisor on European and International
Affairs in Kranzl's office;

-- Manfred Bialonczyk, Director General of Civil Aviation;

-- Klaus Krziwanek, Deputy Director General of Civil Aviation;

-- Herbert Zulinski, Deputy Director General of Civil Aviation;

-- Silvia Gehrer, Austria's Permanent Representative to ICAO and
Austrian Representative on the Council of the ICAO.

-- (tentative) Dieter Gaupmann, the MoT's Acting Director for
International Air Transport Affairs and Head of the Government and
Industry Relations Unit.


3. Kranzl, Boehm and Priller will arrive in Montreal on September
16 and depart on September 19. The rest of the Austrian delegation
(Bialonczyk, Krziwanek, Zulinski, Gehrer, and Gaupmann) will be in
Montreal for the entire ICAO Assembly.


4. Post has appointments with MFA and MoT interlocutors to seek
Austrian support for the U.S. candidacy for the ICAO Council.
