6. SYG Ban agreed to distribute the July 5 letter from
International Maritime Organization (IMO) Secretary General
Mitropoulos to the Security Council. Ban said he supported
Security Council action to address the worsening piracy
situation off the coast of Somalia. Ban noted that in one
incident several Korean nationals had been detained by Somali
pirates for over 150 days.
