(C) Embassy Tokyo Political Officer followed up on reftel
demarches May 15 with MOFA Human Rights Division UNHRC Desk
Officer Noriko Tanaka. Tanaka said that Japan intends to
vote for Slovenia and has offered its support to Bosnia in
exchange for Bosnia's support for Japan in next year's
election. Japan will definitely not vote for Belarus, but is
unwilling to lobby other countries to vote against Belarus,
added Tanaka. Tanaka, when asked, was unwilling to elaborate.
