1. Econoff delivered reftel request for Washington
International Renewable Energy Conference (WIREC) 2008
delegation information on October 10 to Femke Smeets, Policy
Officer, Directorate General for Foreign Economic Relations,
Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs (MEA).
2. Smeets said the GONL viewed WIREC positively and there
was a "good chance" that Dutch Minister for Economic Affairs
Maria van der Hoeven would participate in WIREC if ministers
from other EU countries also attended. Smeets said the MEA
had asked Dutch embassies in other EU states to identify
attendance by other EU ministers and was still awaiting
responses. Post will follow up and report on any additional
information received.
3. Post suggests the following Dutch organizations also be
considered for WIREC 2008 invitations:
-- Energy Research Center of the Netherlands (ECN),Postbus
1, 1755 ZG Petten, the Netherlands. ECN develops high-level
knowledge and technology for a sustainable energy system and
transfers it to the market. Contact: Mr. Cees van der
Klein, Chief Executive Officer.
-- Econcern, B.V., Postbus 8408, 3503 RK Utrecht, the
Netherlands. Econcern delivers unique projects, innovative
products, and services to promote a sustainable energy
supply. Contact: Mr. Ad van Wijk, Chief Executive Officer.
-- Bioshape Holding, B.V., Napoleonsweg 116a, 6086 AJ Neer,
the Netherlands. Bioshape was founded to develop and realize
