1. Econoff delivered reftel points on June 15 to Dutch
Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials Joost Andriessen, Head,
Humanitarian Aid Division, and Gert Kampman, Deputy Director,
Middle East Section.
2. Kampman said the GONL was one of the "bigger" donors to
the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA),adding that Foreign
Minister Verhagen had announced on June 12 a donation of
$500,000 in support of the UNRWA's Flash Appeal in Lebanon.
Andriessen confirmed this amount and said the GONL was
monitoring developments in the country closely. He noted,
however, that the GONL had no plans to provide additional
funding to either a new appeal or the UNRWA Emergency Appeal
in the West Bank and Gaza.
