1. (U) Summary: Embassy officials opened the USAID
sponsored anti-trafficking film "Labor Trafficking Reality"
on December 19 to an audience of representatives from
Parliament, state ministries, domestic and international
NGOS, journalists, and members of the Interagency Council on
Combating Trafficking in Tbilisi. The local NGO Georgian
Young Lawyers Association (GYLA) recently completed the
documentary to highlight labor trafficking and the
consequences for victims. The film, shot in Georgia,
includes actual stories of labor exploitation and information
from experts on trafficking prevention and victim assistance.
The documentary will be shown on Georgian TV channels to
heighten public awareness beginning in January 2008. End
Summary.

2. (U) As part of its USAID sponsored contract, GYLA
recently completed a documentary film in Georgian on labor
trafficking under the auspices of the "No to Trafficking in
Persons Project." The documentary, a 25 minute short,
produced by the Georgian company "Art Magic" and directed by
Dali Pridonashvili, includes interviews by Giorgi Chkheidze,
GYLA Chair, Sozar Subari, Public Defender, and Ia
Dadunashvili, of the International Labor organization. The
film contains actual stories of labor trafficking victims,
both men and women, and includes footage from two previously
public service announcements on the same issue.

3. (U) "Labor Trafficking Reality" was the second of three
films that has been created by GYLA related to trafficking.
In 2006, GYLA helped to create a film to educate the public
on female sexual exploitation. The third and final film,
which is slated for production in 2008, will concentrate on
child trafficking.
