SUBJECT: ESTONIA: PROLIFERATION SECURITY INITIATIVE

Ref: STATE 71024

(SBU) On May 24, we delivered reftel points to Riho
Kruuv, MFA Division Director for Strategic Goods
Control, and asked the GOE to recognize May 31, 2007 as
the fourth anniversary of the Proliferation Security
Initiative (PSI). We also urged the GOE to continue to
work bilaterally and/or jointly with other PSI partners
to encourage additional countries to endorse the PSI
Statement of Interdiction Principles. Kruuv thanked the
USG for creating such an initiative and said that
Estonia values highly its PSI partners. According to
Kruuv, Estonia continues to work together with PSI
partners by sharing information, participating in
training exercises, and improving Estonia's ability to
disrupt and stop proliferation activities.
