SUBJECT: SUDAN COUNTRY CLEARANCE REQUEST FOR S/CRS EYTHAN
SONTAG


1. (U) This is an action request. Please see paras 2-3.


2. (SBU) Department requests that Post grant country
clearance for S/CRS Eythan Sontag, who will be TDY
principally in Darfur for approximately two months in support
of peace-process implementation and other Embassy activities
in the field. He posesses a Top Secret-SCI clearance and
visa valid through April 2007.


3. (SBU) Department asks that Post make hotel reservations
within per diem at the Khartoum Hilton (non-smoking rooms)
from January 27-30. Post should draw on the existing S/CRS
fund cite for payment. Department requests that Post
expedite traveler's arrival at airport, including passage
through customs, baggage handling and transportation to the
hotel. Post is also asked to begin processing the necessary
paperwork for Mr. Sontag's in-country travel permits.
