SUBJECT: MACEDONIA LIKELY TO SUPPORT DRAFT RESOLUTION
CONDEMNING THE USE OF RAPE
(U) On October 1, MFA Head of Department for Multilateral
Affairs Sanja Zografska-Krsteska told Poloff the GOM would
likely support and co-sponsor a resolution on "Condemning the
Use of Rape as an Instrument of State Policy."
Zografska-Krsteska said that, since the resolution "coincides
with Macedonia's human rights goals," she would urge the
Macedonian delegation at the UN to pay attention to the
October 9 start of the negotiations and to help prevent the
introduction of amendments to the U.S. draft.
