(S) On June 21, poloff conveyed reftel points informing that
three North Korean refugee applicants in Ulaanbaatar are
inadmissible to the United States and that they wish to be
resettled in the ROK to Park Ji-hyun, Deputy Director of
MOFAT's Inter-Korean Policy Division. Poloff added that the
USG would appreciate ROKG vetting assistance with the one
North Korean applicant in Ulaanbaatar who was deemed eligible
for application processing for resettlement to the United
States. Park responded that the ROKG would assist with
fingerprinting assistance for the one deemed eligible for USG
processing. However, she reserved judgment on the denied
three, noting that the ROKG would apply its own screening and
admission procedures.
