(C) On May 2, poloff delivered reftel points, urging capitals
to oppose Belarus and support Slovenia in their bids for the
two open seats on the Eastern European slate for the UNHRC,
to Jang Hyun-cheol, Deputy Director of MOFAT's Human Rights
and Social Affairs Division. Jang said that Seoul intended
to support Slovenia. Seoul would not vote for Belarus even
if there were no alternative candidate, due to its human
rights violations. The ROKG hoped that a third country would
run so that its candidacy could be considered.
