SUBJECT: AMERICA'S MOST WANTED - SERIAL CHILD RAPIST
CAPTURED IN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

1. On August 22, 2007, Miguel Angel Gonzalez, a U.S. citizen
fugitive and convicted serial child rapist, was arrested in
Santo Domingo by members of a specialized fugitive
apprehension unit based in the National Directorate of Drug
Control. Working in concert with locally-based agents of the
U.S. Marshals Service and utilizing tip information generated
both in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Santo Domingo, agents
descended on Gonzalez while he was waiting for a bus on a
public street.

2. Gonzalez was first convicted for indecent assault of a
minor in 1992, for which he received 7 years probation. In
October 2002, he was convicted and sentenced in absentia in
Berks County, Pennsylvania on multiple counts involving the
violation of minors, including: rape of a minor, indecent
assault, and sexual assault, as well as corruption of a
minor. Because of the seriousness of his crimes and his
pattern of criminal behavior, Gonzalez was featured on
America's Most Wanted in both 2003 and 2004. He will be
returned shortly to Pennsylvania, where he will begin serving
a maximum 42-year sentence. There is no information as to
any crimes he might have committed while hiding in the
Dominican Republic.
