TERRITORIES MANDATE EXTENSION

REF: STATE 35404

Poloff delivered reftel demarche to Laura Carpini, MFA Human
Rights Office Director, March 21, stressing that the Occupied
Territories mandate should not be singled out for special
treatment by the UNHRC and requesting GOI assistance in
asking the resolution sponsor to defer action until the
mandate review is complete. Carpini promised to carefully
consider our points. As of March 23, the GOI had not yet
finished reviewing the request. Embassy will follow up and
report any substantive comments septel.
