(C) Poloff spoke with MFA UN Affairs Desk Officer Luca 
Laudiero November 23 about the candidacy of Pierre-Richard 
Prosper for the Committee on the Elimination of Racial 
Discrimination and provided Prosper's CV and reftel 
diplomatic note. Laudiero thanked us for the information on 
Prosper but said that Italy was still considering candidates 
for the election and had not yet reached a decision on whom 
to support. He thought a final decision would be made after 
Christmas.
