1. (S) Econoff met with Giampaolo Cantini, Head of the
Counter Terrorism Policy Unit at the MFA's Department for
Multilateral Political Affairs on December 28 to discuss
reftel points. Cantini stated that the GOI Financial
Security Committee (FSC) would research the individuals
listed in reftel and inform the Embassy if the GOI had any
concerns or questions.
2. (S) Additionally, Econoff presented the same demarche to
Maria Paola Suppa, an advisor at the Ministry of Finance's
Office of Financial Crimes Prevention, December 28 and
January 3. Suppa reported that her office had referred the
case to the FSC and had nothing significant to report at this
time, but would inform the Embassy of any concerns.
