1. (S) The Saudis are still considering whether to support
the submissions to the UN 1518 and 1267 Sanctions Committees
requested in reftel. Abdulrahman Al-Ahmad, a First Secretary
in the International Organizations Department of the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs working on terrorism issues, reports that
the matter has been referred to the Permanent Committee for
Counter-Terrorism for consideration. This committee is part
of the Ministry of the Interior. Al-Ahmad was unable to
provide an estimate of when a decision might be reached.
