1. (C) PolEconOff delivered reftel points May 16 to Liga
Rozeniece, Head of International Organizations Division at
the MFA. Rozeniece responded that the GOL agrees that both
UNSCR 1267 and UNSCR 1735 are important and effective
counter-terrorism instruments. She added that the cover
sheet provision of UNSCR 1735 should make the terrorist
listing process more effective. Rozeniece informed Post on
May 17 that Ms. Kristine Malinovska, Counselor of the Latvian
Mission to the UN, will attend reftel May 22 briefing on UN
efforts to combat terrorism in New York.
