Marcinkevica, Head of Export Control of Strategic Goods
Division at the MFA. Marcinkevica responded that, while the
GOL agrees with the USG that effective export controls and
universal support for such controls are needed, the GOL
supports the Arms Trade Treaty initiative. She stated that
the GOL believes "that the Arms Trade Treaty itself would be
a feasible instrument, setting minimum requirements for
controls of arms trade." Along with her response,
Marcinkevica provided post with a copy of a report to the UN
Secretary General explaining the GOL's views on the potential
