1. Post announced U.S. candidacy for the IACO Council to Helga
Hauksdsttir of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ms. Astrpur
Scheving Thorsteinsson of the Ministry of Transportation on August
28. Ms. Hauksdsttir and Ms. Thorsteinsson responded positively and
said the GOI would review the information.
2. Ms. Thorsteinsson informed post that Iceland's delegation to the
IACO assembly would include Permanent Secretary Ragnhildur
Hjaltadsttir and Director of the Civil Aviation Authority Ptur K.
Maack.
3. Ms. Thorsteinsson also announced Iceland's candidacy for Part II
of the council, to fill a seat that has always rotated among the
Nordic countries. GOI requested U.S. support for their candidacy.
