1. (C) DCM met with Deputy Foreign Minister Pojar on April 6
to request resettlement of Guantanamo detainees in the Czech
Republic. Pojar thought it was "doubtful" the Czechs would
accept the detainees, but agreed to consider the request.
(The Czechs declined a similar request when it was posed by
Brussels on the behalf of the OSCE in December 2006.) Pojar
said those countries that have publicly criticized the
Guantanamo detention facility (i.e., not the Czech Republic)
should step up to the plate to resettle some of the detainees.
2. (U) Pojar noted the Czechs have just resettled ten Cuban
migrants from Guantanamo (ref D).
