VISITING FORCES ACT OF 2007

1. On July 3, poloff faxed and subsequently hand-delivered demarche
per reftel to Laura West, Director, Americas Division of the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On July 6, another copy was faxed to
Gerard Thompson, Director of Legal Affairs of the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs. Mr. Thompson informed poloff that he will raise
the issue with Ms. West and will inform us of the Ministry's
response to the request to designate members of the US armed forces
and civilian employees of the US Department of Defense as visiting
forces under the Visiting Forces Act of 2007.
2. Post will continue to follow up and will advise the Department of
further information received on this subject.
