(C) The Embassy January 17 delivered Ref A demarche on
assistance to Afghanistan and followed up January 23 based on
Ref B request. MFA Asian Affairs officer Haris Chrysostomou
welcomed the supplied information, but responded that Cyprus
had made no commitments regarding Afghanistan. Further,
Chrysostomou noted that Cyprus had not yet identified who
would represent the country at the January 26 NATO
Ministerial Trans-Atlantic lunch, nor specified what issues
he/she might raise. He promised, however, to pass on said
information when it became available.
