1. This is an action request for the Department. Please see
paragraph three.


2. Post received on May 18 from the Indian Ministry of
External Affairs a diplomatic note requesting a bilateral
meeting between Prime Minister Singh and President Bush to
take place during the G-8 Summit in Germany between June 6-8.
Full text of the diplomatic note is below.


3. Action request. Request guidance on the formal USG
response.

URGENT

No. AB/500/07

The Multilateral Economic Relations Division of the Ministry
of External Affairs, Government of India presents its
compliments to the Embassy of the United States of America in
New Delhi and has the honor to request that a bilateral
meeting between the Prime Minister of India H.E. Dr. Manmohan
Singh and the President of the United States of America H.E.
George W. Bush may be arranged at the forthcoming G-8 Summit
scheduled to be held in Germany on June 6-8, 2007.

It is suggested that the date/time of the proposed meeting is
tied up in coordination with the Indian Embassy in Berlin.

The Multilateral Economic Relations Division of the Ministry
of External Affairs, Government of India avails itself of
this opportunity to renew to the Embassy of the United States
of America in New Delhi the assurances of its highest
consideration.
