(SBU) On May 4, EconOff presented reftel demarche to Angelo S.
Benedictos, Assistant Director of the Bureau of International Trade
Relations of the Department of Trade and Industry. Benedictos
replied that the GRP continues to prepare its agenda for the May 7
discussions on non-tariff barriers in Geneva, and is both aware of
and studying the U.S. proposal on textiles, apparel, footwear, and
travel goods. At this stage, he does not rule out Philippine
co-sponsorship of the proposal.
