(C) Pol/Econ Chief June 17 delivered reftel demarche urging
support for UNRWA appeals for Lebanon, the West Bank, and
Gaza to MFA Director for Bilateral Affairs Dhafer Al Umran.
Al Umran said he would forward the points to the Foreign
Minister but commented that Bahrain did not have the
financial ability to provide significant support for UNRWA.
He was pleased, however, to note that Saudi Arabia and the
United Arab Emirates had recently announced large
contributions to the Lebanese government as it takes on Fatah
Al Islam extremists.
