(C) Per Ref A, we contacted MFA Assistant Under Secretary for
Coordination and Follow Up Shaikh Abdul Aziz bin Mubarak Al
Khalifa concerning the UN Human Rights Council election.
Indicating that he was outside the country, at a meeting in
Qatar, he said that his initial reaction was that Bahrain
would vote in favor of Slovenia and Bosnia for the Council.
He promised to study the issue more thoroughly and provide us
with a firm position by May 14. It is my assessment that
Bahrain will indeed support Slovenia and Bosnia, assuming
Bosnia announces its candidacy.
