concerning building international support for democracy in
Zimbabwe to MFA International Organization Affairs First
Secretary Salah Al Malki. Al Malki agreed that the UN Human

Rights Council (HRC),of which Bahrain is a member, could
play a role in raising the public profile of the
deteriorating situation in Zimbabwe. He said that Minister
of State for Foreign Affairs Nizar Al Baharna was currently
in Geneva to participate in an HRC session. He promised to
pass U.S. views of the Zimbabwe situation to Al Baharna so he
is prepared in the event of HRC action.
