(C) Pol/Econ Chief March 6 delivered Ref A demarche
concerning the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism
Law Enforcement Conference to MFA Director for International
Organization Affairs Ghassan Shaikho. Shaikho said that he
had already sent the information on joining the Global
Initiative (Refs B and C) to the Foreign Minister, and he
directed his assistant to forward the information about the
June law enforcement conference to the Minister as well. He
said that he considered the Global Initiative to be
complementary to the Proliferation Security Initiative, which
Bahrain had already joined. He thought the June meeting
could be a convenient target date to use as a deadline for
prompting a GOB decision about joining the Global Initiative.
