1. (SBU) Acting Pol/Econ chief delivered reftel demarche
February 22 to Veronique Dockendorf, MFA senior transatlantic
affairs officer and Mike Hentges, the Prime Minister's
diplomatic advisor. Neither had any immediate comment, but
both undertook to present the demarche at the earliest
opportunity to the Foreign Minister and Prime Minister
respectively.


2. (C) Comment: Post believes PM Juncker and FM Asselborn
will read the demarche with care. MFA contacts have
indicated that Russian FM Lavrov will visit Luxembourg "in
the near future" and they want to ensure that the PM and FM
Asselborn are kept well aware of the US position. Post will
follow up and report any significant developments septel.
