1. (SBU) Pol/econ officer delivered points contained reftel
to Jean-Louis Thill, MFA Coordinator for Near and
Middle-Eastern Affairs on 7 December. Thill thanked Pol/econ
officer for the information but responded that despite FM
Jean Asselborn's personal interest in Lebanon, there were no
statements planned on the matter at this time.
2. (SBU) COMMENT: FM Asselborn is scheduled to brief
Parliment on 12 December regarding the 7 December North
Atlantic Council (NAC) meeting as well as the 10-11 December
GAERC. Knowing Asselborn's intense interest in Lebanon, it
is likely that he will comment on the situation. Post will
follow up and report any significant developments septel.
