1. Post discussed reftel with contacts at the European
Investment Bank (EIB) on 18 Mar. EIB was unaware of the 3
May meeting in Egypt. Per discussion with our contact,
Charge sent a letter to EIB President Philippe Maystadt and
to EIB Vice President De Fontaine Vive and requested a
meeting during the week of 23-27 April to discuss high-level
EIB participation in the 3 May event.
2. Our contact informed us that EIB would be contacting its
Cairo branch for information. Post will report additional
developments septel.
