Emboffs spoke with MFA Defense and Security Organizations
Officer Filipe Ramalheira regarding Portugal's status on the
Nuclear Terrorism Convention (NTC). Ramalheira was familiar
with the terms and background of the NTC. He confirmed that
Portugal has signed the convention and is awaiting
ratification by the Portuguese Parliament. Portugal's legal
structure is sufficiently developed to ensure proper national
compliance once the NTC is ratified. Post will continue to
monitor the NTC's ratification progress and encourage the
Portuguese to take action as soon as possible.
