1. (SBU) Poloff met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs
Henri Mumba on May 16 to discuss Belarus's candidacy for the
Human Rights Council (reftel A). Mumba said that GOM does
not believe that Belarus would be a good candidate for the
Council, and instead the GOM will support Slovenia and
Bosnia. This message was reiterated to United Kingdom's
Deputy High Commissioner Wendy Freeman when she, in
coordination with the Mission, delivered the same message on
May 16 to Director of Political Affairs Paul Chiunguzeni.
Any further information will be delivered septel.
