1. (C) Per Reftel, Post approached the MFA regarding the
resolutions to be submitted to the upcoming UNGA Plenary
passed by the Third Committee. G. Seddiq Rasuli, Deputy G.
Seddiq Rasuli, Deputy Director of the United Nations and
International Conferences Department of the MFA, told poloff
that he was aware of the importance of the resolutions,
particularly that on Iran, and that he would raise the matter
with Foreign Minister Spanta at the earliest opportunity.
Rasuli said he was unaware why the Afghan delegation to the
Third Committee had voted as they did on the Iran resolution,
but that he would communicate our priorities to both the
delegation and directly to FM Spanta.
