1. (C) Ambassador made key points reftel to Indonesian
Presidential Adviser Dino Patti Djalal on February 7.
Ambassador said he was unsure of Indonesia's steps to enforce
United Nations Security Council Resolution 1737, which, of
course, was binding on all UN members. He urged that
Indonesia review its obligations under UNSCR 1737 and carry
them out.
2. (C) Ambassador also urged that Indonesian officials be
clear in any references to or joint statements on the Iran
nuclear program that they make absolutely clear Indonesia's
opposition to Iran's developing nuclear weapons.
3. (C) Djalal instructed his staff to study UNSCR 1737 to
determine whether Indonesia was doing all it could to
implement the resolution.
