1. (C) We conveyed reftel's specific request for Jakarta to
Desra Percaya, Director for International Security and
Disarmament at the Department of Foreign Affairs, on April
26. Percaya seemed unfamiliar with the issue but showed
interest, and attached particular importance to the fact that
the three African states on the Security Council strongly
favored the proposal. He also noted that Somalia was a
"Muslim-majority country" like Indonesia.
2. (C) Percaya thanked us for raising the issue and said he
would discuss it further with the Indonesian UN Mission.
