On January 16, Ambassador and DCM met with Director General
of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International
Cooperation Umaru Wurie to discuss President Bush's new Iraq
Strategy. Ambassador Wurie offered his government's
assistance and asked what his government could do to lend
support to USG efforts. Ambassador responded that Sierra
Leonean support in the UN is helpful when Iraq issues are
discussed and to encourage Iran and Syria to not interfere in
Iraqi affairs. Ambassador Wurie said that he would raise the
issue the next time he spoke with the Iranian Ambassador.
