(SBU) Minister for Foreign Affairs Dermot Ahern will not
attend the Community of Democracies (CD) meeting of Ministers
on October 1 in New York, according to Gavan O'Leary, Deputy
Director, Human Rights Unit, Department of Foreign Affairs,
to whom POLOFF delivered reftel demarche on September 25. A
senior Irish representative will attend in his place, O'Leary
said. He indicated that Ireland intends to participate in
the biennial Ministerial in Bamako in November 2007, although
he could not confirm who from the Irish government would
attend.
