(SBU) PolOff delivered reftel demarche to Eusebe Agbangla,
the interim director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs'
Office of International Relations on November 23, 2007.
Agbangla indicated that while he could not, at this time,
promise the definitive support of the GOB for Ambassador
Pierre-Richard Prosper, the GOB greatly values its relations
with the United States and would probably vote in Ambassador
Prosper's favor at the CERD committee meeting in January
2008. Post notes that Benin's Mission to the U.N. has
considerable leeway and should be lobbied as well to gain the
GOB's support for Ambassador Prosper.
