1. (SBU) ACTION REQUESTS -- SEE PARA 3.
2. (SBU) Interpol's General Assembly meets November 5-8 in
Marrakech, Morocco. Embassy understands the Government of
Iran may be actively lobbying Interpol member governments to
either vote against or abstain in the vote for the Executive
Committee's recommendation to issue international capture
notices for six Iranian nationals indicted in Argentina for
the 1994 terrorist bombing of the AMIA Jewish community
center.
3. (S/NF) ACTION REQUESTS: Embassy requests Department's
and intelligence community's assistance to track down any
evidence of Iran lobbying other countries in the run-up to
Marrakech. Per reftels, the Argentines have requested USG
assistance in identifying Interpol members to help focus GOA
lobbying efforts and to reach out to governments where the
GOA does not have representatives. To respond to the GOA
request, Embassy further requests that Washington identify
Interpol members that the GOA should target in its own
diplomatic lobbying efforts.
