1. (U) In follow-up to delivery of reftel demarche, MFA
Security Policy and Non-Proliferation desk officer Zoltan
Papp thanked poloff for sharing our input saying, "several
departments are carefully reviewing the text" thus he cannot
offer a substantive response at this time. Papp promised to
contact poloff with further input "as appropriate" in advance
of the NPT meetings.
2. (U) Regarding the official GOH delegation, Mr. Papp said
"Hungary will be represented in the second week" of the NPT
meetings by Ambassador Gyorgyi Martin-Zanathy, the Permanent
Representative to Hungary's UN Mission in Vienna. The
remainder of the delegation includes the Ambassador's deputy
to the UN Mission in Vienna Minister Plenipotentiary Attila
Zimonyi, Geneva Mission disarmament expert Gyula Somogyi and
Hungarian Atomic Energy Ministry representative Kristof
Horvath. Mr. Papp will also attend the NPT PrepCom as part
of the GOH delegation.
