Directorate deputy chief Chronis Polychroniou, who said the
GoG agreed with the U.S. position on the cross-group
stationing paper and supported draft option 1. Polychroniou
also said the MFA had forwarded to the MOD the text of the
latest U.S. proposal on the CFE verbal note and was awaiting
its reply, which he expected in a few days. NOTE: The MOD
has just undergone its yearly all-consuming
promotion/retirement cycle, which is likely delaying a prompt
response. END NOTE.
