1. (SBU) On September 18, DepPolCouns and PolOff delivered
reftel points on U.S. priorities for the Community of
Democracies meeting on the margins of the UNGA on October 1
to Ambassador Alexandros Rallis, deputy head, MFA D1
Directorate for International Organizations.
2. (SBU) Rallis was unable to say whether Greece would be in
a position to make a donation to the UNDEF fund. He said,
however, that he would pass our message to the Greek
delegation in New York with the recommendation that all
possible support be given to Mali in organizing the Bamako
ministerial. Rallis also mentioned that Greek Deputy Foreign
Minister Valinakis planned to attend the meeting in NYC in
place of FM Bakoyannis, who would depart on September 25.
