1. Per reftel, the Government of Madagascar (GOM) will be unable to
provide any information on the attendance of GOM officials or their
spouses at the 62nd UN General Assembly (UNGA) before the beginning
of September. President Marc Ravalomanana is likely to attend again
this year pending the outcome of the Malagasy National Assembly
elections scheduled for September 23; it is not certain whether his
spouse Lalao Ravalomanana would travel with him. Neither the Prime
Minister nor his wife normally attends the UNGA.
2. The Government of the Union of the Comoros was also unable to
provide any information on the attendance of Comoran government
officials or their spouses at the 62nd UNGA.
3. Post will notify the Department with any updates.
